Although we are not governed by the statutory holidays for schools, we follow the ESF schools calendar. During every year we have 5 teacher training days built into the calendar. This is in addition to the contact days with children. These CPD days are added onto our calendar not removed from the contact days with children.

Story Sharing Day
The K2 children had their story sharing day last week. They experienced a variety of activities based around stories such as story walks, musical stories and puppet shows.

K2 Transition to Year 1
All of the Year 1 teachers from Clearwater Bay School except one who is on leave have been down to Abacus now to visit the children they will be receiving in August.
They have spent time getting to know their children and having a handover meeting with our teachers. On Friday they will visit Clearwater Bay School and find out which classes they are in next year.
Abacus buses will be running as usual for those children that need to come back to school after the induction visit. Some children come back to school and others are too tired and go straight home. Children not moving onto Clearwater Bay School can come to school as usual.
K1 Science Day
The K1 children are learning all about scientific concepts and processes in this unit. In order to provoke their thinking they attended a science day at Abacus and experienced a variety of science experiments.
