E-Portfolio download and Moodle Review
The portfolios are now ready to download, however we are still ironing out a few glitches for the Chinese. We hope to have this fixed by tomorrow. Please follow these instructions to download and keep/view your child’s portfolio. K1 children do not need to download as their portfolio will continue on into K2.
To download, you need to view your child’s portfolio and click on the little key icon next to the Add Evidence Button. This will open a download dialogue box to download the zip file.
After downloading parents need to
1) extract the contents of the zip
2) find the extracted folder and open it
3) and then click the index file
Please extract all files before clicking on index or it will not connect up properly !
Please note K2 Parents – You only have until July 15th to download your child’s portfolio or it will be deleted.
Abacus End of Year Reports
Abacus end of year school reports are available to view and print on the moodle system now. Don’t forget you will need to login with your username and password to view this report the link alone will not work. You will need to login in here, https://abacus.lg.esf.edu.hk then use the username and password you were given to log in. The home page should look like this screenshot here.
Please note the red arrows – one should point to your child’s name, if it says ‘parent of’ here then you have used the wrong link to log in.
The second arrow points to a green button that says reports on your home page. This will take you to a page where you can view the final report.
Please note you can print this report by clicking on the print icon at the side of the page but before you do we suggest you open up the parent comment box by clicking on the blue parent bar at the bottom of the report and add your own comment about your child’s progress. Please note whatever you write here will appear on your child’s school report so please make it a positive comment to your child about their progress.
Any issues about the reports please email into your class teacher, they have been checked but sometimes mistakes slip through, we would be happy to change any mistakes that appear.
K2 Parents and K1 leavers please download your reports before the 15th July. The Portfolio and reports will not be accessible after that.
Classes for Next Year
We have now decided our class teacher and Educational assistant placements for next year. They will be as follows.
K1 Billingual Class: Olivia Kane (New), Susanne, Sue
K1 English Class: Liv (Olivia kotyck), Anita and Michelle
K2 English Class: Fiona, Bridgette, Jackie
K2 Billingual Class: Danielle, Allison, Julie/ New Educational Assistant
We will have two Olivia’s in K1 therefore our current Olivia will be known as Liv next year to avoid confusion.
New Uniform
As part of the ESF re branding exercise we have moved over from the blue logo to the red ESF logo and as a result changed the kindergarten uniform to match this.
We will have a two year change over process from old to new uniform. We suggest all incoming K1 children purchase the new uniform unless they are reusing their siblings uniform. All K2 children can remain in the blue uniform and Aston Wilson will be selling the remainder of this uniform cheaply. We do also have some second hand of the old uniform for sale in the office.
Next year will look a bit messy in the school photos as children will be wearing both uniforms in school but we hope that within two years everyone will be in the new uniform.
