Welcome Back
Welcome back, we hope you enjoyed the extended holiday. Although it was disruptive for the children’s learning it gave them chance to have a good rest in order to prepare for the rest of this term. It also gave teachers some extra time at school to work on various aspects of their own and children’s learning. During the week before Chinese New Year we had training on Literacy and Science and teachers had time to plan some extra Forest schools practices into the outdoor planning.
Vision Screenings
We are offering in school vision screenings at Abacus next week. The screenings are offered by a registered optometrist from Matilda Hospital. The cost is $220 which goes directly to the optometrist. Please see the attached leaflet for more information. Abacus Vision Screening leaflet 2018.
Chinese New Year Celebrations
Due to the flu outbreak and school closure we have had to postpone our Chinese New Year celebrations at Abacus. The teachers would like to go ahead with the performance this week on Thursday 1st March. The children will be performing a few Chinese songs to celebrate the new year. Am session parents are welcome to join us on Thursday at 10.15 am and the Pm parents at 2.15 pm. The children will also have their CNY parties on this day. Apologies but Frances and Allison had already signed up for a course on this days, therefore they will be unable to attend. The Chinese teachers will lead the celebrations.
Parent Conferences
Our parent conferences will be held during the week beginning 12th March. Please visit Gateway to sign up for a slot for your child. Please note parents of children in the English class can also sign up to meet the Chinese teacher if they would like to. This will be a separate appointment to the appointment with the class teacher.
