Although we are not governed by the statutory holidays for schools, we follow the ESF schools calendar. During every year we have 5 teacher training days built into the calendar. This is in addition to the contact days with children. These CPD days are added onto our calendar not removed from the contact days with children.
Please find the school calendar for Abacus Calendar for 2018-2019 here.
School Library
Unfortunately our school library is still out of action. We are waiting for a final quote before replacing or fixing. We hope to get the library back in order early next term.
Please return all library books to school by Friday 7th December.
School Fair
Thank-you to everyone who attended our fair last Saturday. An especially big thank-you to our fair committee for all their hard work and to everyone who donated in some way. We are still totalling the final profit for the fair income but think this will be around $30,000. This money will be spent on improving the facilities at the front of school further. Thank you also to Ruby who took some photos. these can be found here.
Christmas Party and Carol Concert
This week the children are busy making Christmas decorations for our tree. Next week we will have our Christmas party on Wednesday. Your class teacher will be getting in touch with you to ask you to send some party food in on this day. Children can wear party clothes on Wednesday to school.
Our carol concert will be on Thursday and this is the last day of term for students. Parents are invited to school to watch their children perform a few songs. Please arrive at school for 10.15 am and 2.15am.
Miss Hannah and Miss Penny
Miss Hannah has returned to the UK this week as sadly her grandfather passed away and she will attend his funeral this week. Miss Sandra will cover the class for the week. Miss Penny is also on leave this week and will be covered by Miss Angela.
Recruitment
We have commenced our recruitment round for this year. Sadly Miss Olivia Kotyck will be leaving us at the end of this year to continue her studies and return to primary aged children. We held interviews over the week last week and I am very pleased to announce that Miss Hannah has now secured a permanent contract with us for next year and will replace Miss Olivia. Miss Hannah has been on a temporary contract this year.
We are also recruiting for our Vice Principal position at the moment. Miss Fiona has also been in this role on a one year temporary contract. We now have 3 final candidates who will come to school on Wednesday for their final interviews. We will have a panel of teachers, parents and ESF senior management who will interview them. They will also teach a lesson and present to staff after school. We will confirm the successful vice principal at the end of this week.
